Unified Communications

Unified Communications is the convergence of various communication methods and technologies, such as telephony, instant messaging, presence, video conferencing and desktop sharing.

This technology is by no means new, but, traditionally, the high costs have meant that it has only been available to enterprise businesses with larger budgets. However now these enterprise solutions are becoming accessible for small and medium size businesses, and, in fact, often enable companies to reduce costs whilst also embracing the latest technologies.

Being able to utilize and manage all of these different tools on one platform, allows companies to increase productivity within their organization and also to improve communication both internally and externally.

While there is a potential cost saving as opposed to the individual licensing requirements incurred by using different solutions, this is not the only saving; the resources required to manage these varied strands can all be very time consuming for any IT Department.

Some solutions offer several of these features, but not all. In fact very few offer a true service that includes voice (phones) as standard. For example, some platforms still rely on a separate traditional PBX to facilitate this, which not only complicates the setup/implementation, but increases costs dramatically compared to a true unified communications offering.

In addition, with the variety of devices available today, you need to be sure that the solution will work for everyone, both internally and externally, regardless of the device or browser that they are using. This would typically include Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and commonly used web browsers.

Our Unified Communications platform is delivered as a ‘Managed Service’, with high levels of security, so that IT departments benefit, due to reduced resource utilization, allowing them to concentrate on other areas of the business.
